Alexander Gordon Pinkston III, age 78, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, February 21, 2023 in Savannah, Georgia under the care of Compassus Hospice after an extended illness.
He was born August 19, 1944, to Dr. Alexander Gordon Pinkston, Jr. and Mildred Haywood Pinkston in Charleston, South Carolina and was a lifelong resident of Glennville, Georgia. Alex was a 1962 graduate of Glennville High School and attended Brewton Parker College after graduation. Early on Alex knew he would be an all-around outdoorsman achieving Eagle Scout while being in the Boy Scout Club and rising from there. Carrying on that passion he had, he spent many years helping cultivate a sense of love for the outdoors, hunting and fishing in many youth, children and grandchildren along the way. He also had a love for sports, he helped coach many years of little league that he held close to his heart. Alex was a larger-than-life Georgia Bulldogs fan through and through.
After retirement, he spent his latter years on hunting and fishing trips with his lifelong friends. Although Alex was in the commercial construction industry, his proudest accomplishments were his family, children, and grandchildren. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of First Baptist Church of Glennville.
To anyone who knew Alex or Alec as some called him, he never met a stranger. On any given day he would have a reminiscing story or historical topic to share with any person he encountered. He was full of life that bubbled over. Alex will be sorely missed by all who knew him, his love for life was palpable, as he touched many lives around his community throughout his life.
