Allen Gilbert

Allen “Al” McGuire Gilbert, 78, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2021at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah. He was born in Anniston, Alabama on April 11, 1942 to Wallace James and Marie Ray Gilbert and lived in Alabama and Savannah most of his life. Al was a US Army Vietnam Veteran and was a diesel mechanic for many years. He loved to spend time outdoors, gardening, fishing, spending time with his family and pets, to fish and was learning to play the guitar. Al was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was a member of First Weslyn Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Ellen B. Gilbert.

He is survived by:

Daughter, Alicia Rogers of Glennville, Georgia

Son, Joseph Gilbert (Margie) of Alabama

Grandsons, Duston Rogers and Caleb Gilbert

Several other relatives also survive.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Glennville City Cemetery with military honors. Burial will follow.

Social distancing of six feet due to Covid 19 will be enforced and masks are asked to be worn on all services.
