Alvena Hackle

October 29, 1929 — September 5, 2012

Alvena Proctor Hackle, 82, died Wednesday at her residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. She was a very dedicated Christian and member of Evergreen Baptist Church where she taught Beginners and Nursery classes and was a member of the Hospitality Committee. As a typical farm wife and homemaker she enjoyed her vegetable gardens, feeding fish in the family farm pond, tending for her house plants and caring for her family and community.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

Surviving: her husband Alvie J. Hackle of Cobbtown, sons; Randy (Sheryl) Hackle of Cobbtown, Wendell Hackle of Cobbtown, Al (June) Hackle of Claxton. Brothers; Darvin (Beverly) Andrews of Ladson, SC, Malcolm Andrews of Midway. Sisters; Louise Norton of Picayune, MS, Waunell Dix of Savannah. Grandchildren; Jenine Carpenter, Valerie Scott, Walden Hackle. Five great grandchildren, one great granddaughter.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, 2 pm at Evergreen Baptist Church with Dr. John Geerdes and Rev. Eddie Potts officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening 6-8 PM at the funeral home.

Active pallbearers will be Cole Andrews, Kenneth Andrews, Al Bland, Billy Collins, Allen Hackle, Barry Hackle, William Ray, Glynn Thrift. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of The Adult Sunday School Class of Evergreen Baptist Church.
