Benjamin Franklin Dowdy

Benjamin 'Ben' Franklin Dowdy III, age 69, passed away Tuesday June 11, 2024, at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah. He was born in Glennville on June 23, 1954, and lived most of his life in the Gooseneck Community. Ben was a welder that many a farmer or logger was glad to see on site to repair their equipment and he will be remembered for his kind heart and dry humor. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He had many dogs over the years, and he loved them all, “his puppies”.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Willie Jo Dowdy and brother Jerry Dowdy. He is survived by his sister-in-law Susan Dowdy of Wrens, GA, brother Mike (Jenny) Dowdy of Statesboro, GA, sister Linda (Carl) Struthers of Dunedin, FL, three nieces and a nephew.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to his cousin, Dr. Hugh Durrence, for his vigilant care during the years. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to Harmony Church, PO Box 1119, Glennville, GA 30427. There will be a private service for the family.
