Bernice Johnson Williams

Bernice Johnson Williams, 88, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah, Georgia. She was born on December 23, 1936, in Summit, Georgia to Hyman and Eliza Wiggins Johnson. Bernice grew up in Emanuel County Georgia as the youngest of 13 children. 

Bernice was employed as a seamstress in the textile factory in Glennville, where her skilled hands not only crafted fabrics but also wove lasting relationships with her coworkers and the community. 

Outside of her professional life, Bernice had a range of hobbies and interests that showcased her nurturing spirit. She loved to cook, often sharing her delicious meals with family and friends. Gardening and fishing also brought her joy. Above all, Bernice took great pride in taking care of her family, always making sure their needs were met.

Bernice was a member of Beards Creek Primitive Baptist Church and is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Otis Johnson, Lewis Johnson, Ephy Hyman Johnson, Jr, Billy Johnson, Joseph & James Johnson, sisters, Ruby Patrick, Marie Craft, Ruth Kent, Lila Johnson, Debbie Price, Betty Jean Woods and Annie Johnson.

She is survived by:

Son, Ricky "Tater" Williams (Bobbie) of Glennville, Georgia

Granddaughter, Christy Kangeter (Doug) of Pembroke, Georgia

Great Granddaughters, Ava Kangeter (Joey) and Abi Kangeter

Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Brannen Family Funeral Services. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, December 28, 2024 at the chapel of Brannen Family Funeral Services. Burial will follow in Beards Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
