Carroll Sikes
Metter- Carroll Sikes 81, of Metter passed on to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 25, 2015. Carroll was born the son of Clarence M. and Ellen Eva Lewis Sikes in Claxton Georgia where he farmed with his family. In 1955 he joined the army and was stationed at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, North Carolina. While in North Carolina he met his future wife, Ann Marie Jackson. After marriage they moved to Anchorage, Alaska and were stationed at Fort Richardson Army Base. After serving in Alaska, they were reassigned to El Paso, Texas. He left the army in 1963, and finally settled down back in Claxton, Georgia for a few years before moving to Metter where he has lived for the past 48 years. He was a farmer, avid fisherman, and hunter. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Joseph "Jo-Jo" Sikes, brother Joseph Cardell Sikes, sisters Ruth Cowart, and Annette Scott.
He is survived by his wife, Ann M. Sikes, daughters Pamela Ann Jones and husband Ricky of Metter, Barbara Sikes Bird and husband Rick of St. Cloud, FL; sons Carroll "Knocker" Sikes and wife Kim of Metter, Timmy "Timbo" Sikes of Metter. Also surviving are his siblings Swinton Sikes, Sr. of Metter, Daniel (Laura) Sikes and David Sikes all of Claxton; sisters LaGale (Chris) Briggs of Damascus Oregon, Mary E. (Don) Lenig of Welches, Oregon, and Christia (Daryl) Purcell of Brandon, Florida. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at the Metter Chapel of Kennedy-Brannen Funeral Homes.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, March 1, 2015 3:00pm at Kennedy-Brannen Funeral Homes Metter Chapel, with Rev. Burnon Jarriel officiating.
Burial will follow at the Lake Church Cemetery in Metter.
Pallbearers: Gary Jackson, Austin Jones, Bubba Morgan, Jason Rigdon, Douglas Sikes, Swinton Sikes, Jr. Adam Starcher.
Kennedy-Brannen Funeral Homes of Metter is in charge of arrangements.
