Charles "Boonie" Monroe

Metter- Mr. Charles "Boonie" Monroe 70, of Metter died Monday morning at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro surrounded by his loving family. He was a native of Candler County, and lived here all of his life; he attended Metter Church of God. He was retired from the propane gas business having worked in that field for 20 years, prior to that he had worked at Green Grocery and Metter Manufacturing. He also enjoyed raising cattle which he did for many years. He is predeceased by son William Steve Monroe, parents Charlie and Tee Brown Monroe, and an infant sister.

He is survived by wife Clara Monroe, son Patrick (Laksha) Monroe, and the love of his life grandson John Lawt Monroe; Sister Hazel (Phillip) Wise all of Metter. Also surviving are nieces Lynn (Mark) Combs of Orlando, Fl and Paula (Chad) Dekle of Metter.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 13, 2014 from 5-8pm at the Metter Church of God.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 14, 2014 3:00pm at the Metter Church of God, with the Rev. Johnny Beasley and Rev. Alan Kea officiating.

Burial will follow at Primitive Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Metter.

Pallbearers: Pete Clark, Allen Harris, Buddy Hooker, Vinson Meeks, Andy Smith, Jeff Smith

Honorary Pallbearers: Rusty Sears, Hubert Crooms, Pernell Franklin, Lewis Hubbard, David Sanders, Jimmy Ray Parker, Cleve Goodman, John Lanier and Lake Blackburn
