Coy Andrew Perkins, affectionately known as "Andy," passed away on December 6, 2024, at Glenvue Nursing Home & Rehab after an extended illness, at the age of 82.
Andy was born on October 27, 1942, in Vidalia, Georgia to Coy and Tera Brown Perkins and lived here most of his life. He was a proud 1960 graduate of Glennville High School.
He began his career with his first job at Hugh Strickland's Grocery Store, where he was known for delivering groceries with a smile. His journey led him to WKIG Radio, and then into the insurance industry.
For over 30 years, he worked as an insurance agent with Mutual of Omaha and Life of Georgia, becoming a respected figure and well known to his customers. Known affectionately as the "insurance man," Andy possessed a heart for people that transcended his professional duties. He often ensured that families were able to maintain their insurance coverage, even during difficult times when they could not make payments, making the payments for them himself. His dedication extended beyond mere transactions; he took the time to visit families in their homes, selling policies to generations and forming relationships that would last a lifetime.
Andy is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David Perkins.
He is survived by:
Wife, Brenda Perkins of Brunswick, Georgia
Daughters, Hope Perkins of Savannah, Georgia
Staci Perkins of West Palm Beach, Florida
Sister, Judy Westbrook of Thomson, Georgia
Mother of his Children, Shirley McGowen of Savannah, Georgia
Sister-in-law, Teresa Perkins Headley
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Andy’s life will be celebrated with a Memorial Service on December 29, 2024, at Cornerstone Bible Church in Glennville, Georgia. The service will begin at 10:45 AM.
