Daniel Pierce Hodges, 90, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.
He was born on February 9, 1934, in Bulloch County to J. Roland and Daisy Hodges. Dan graduated from Reidsville High School in 1951 and from Georgia Southern College with a degree in Criminal Justice. He lived in Glennville most of his life.
Dan was a member of Harmony Church and has attended Cedar Crossing Church of God for the past few years. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force and the Georgia National Guard. During this time, he enjoyed his travels to Alaska, Germany, Wyoming, Wisconsin, and Illinois. He was a member of Philadelphia Lodge #73 F&AM in Glennville and a member of the Alee Shrine Temple in Savannah.
Dan was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves.
Dan Began a life-long career in the print business during his high school years, with his first job in the Lino-Type Department at the Tattnall Journal Newspaper. He continued working at various printing jobs including, the Metter Advertiser, The Claxton Enterprise, The Georgia State Prison and the US Government Printing Office at Ft. Stewart. Dan was also owner and operator of Hodges Printing and Office Supply. He took great pride in all his work and even in his home and yard, he strived for perfection.
Dan was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His greatest joy came from time with his family. To all of his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, he was known as "Dan-the Man- Silliest Man on Earth". He spread his love of children by sponsoring recreation department little league teams and gifting each child on the team with an Atlanta Braves game experience. Dan was a lover of animals and always had a dog by his side. His present faithful companion, Deanie, was by his side until the very end.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his brothers, Elliott Hodges and James Hodges.
Dan is survived by: the love of his life, his wife of 68 years, Wanda Hodges; children, Teresa Callaway (Tellie) of Claxton, Georgia; Tammy Stille (Dana) of Vidalia, Georgia; Roger Hodges of Midlothian, Virginia; Kaye Hodges of Reidsville, Georgia. Dan is survived by grandchildren, Anslie Patrick (Andy), Heath Stille, Andrew Callaway (Hillary), Heather Helms (Lee), Aaron Robinson, Sara Robinson, Tricia Hodges, Megan Hodges, Hannah Pilgreen, Jacob Pilgreen and great grandchildren, Andi, Alli & Noah Callaway, Hannah, Emma, Alex, Vlad & Sullivan Patrick, Chloe & Hadley Stille, Judson, Nora Mae, Rylie Jo Helms, who fondly and simply called him, "Dan". He is also survived by his brother, Coy Hodges (Linda) and a sister Elizabeth Sheffield (Jerome), several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Brannen Family Funeral Services. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday, November 10, 2024, in the chapel of Brannen Family Funeral Services. Burial will follow in Harmony Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Heath Stille, Andrew Callaway, Aaron Robinson, and Lee Helms.
