Daniel Jay Woodward Beasley

Daniel Jay Woodward Beasley or more affectionately known as "Dan", 88, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 6, 2023, in Claxton, Georgia after a short illness. He was born May 11, 1935 in Augusta, Georgia and lived there all of his life before moving to the Lodge at Bethany in Statesboro, Georgia last year.

Dan served his country in the United States Army. During his service while stationed at Ft. Stewart, Georgia, he met the love of his life Melba Waters and they were married for 60 years until the time of her passing. They had one son, Mark.

Dan was a phlebotomist also while stationed at Ft. Stewart before moving home to Augusta and working at Ft. Gordon where he was an accountant and financial consultant.

He was preceded in death by his wife and son.

Dan is survived by: sister, Mulan Joe (Paul) of Tucker, Georgia; daughter-in-law, Valerie M. Beasley of Evans, Georgia; grandson, Brandt Beasley of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; special nephew, Ron Waters; sisters-in-law, Cherylene Anderson of Glennville, Georgia, Elaine Elliot of Dearing, South Carolina, Glenda Waters of Glennville, Georgia; nieces and nephews: Jerry Waters (Katey), James Waters (Lisa), Jason Waters (Becky), Sheila Gross (Chris) all of Glennville, Georgia, Carmen Johnson (Russ) of Charleston, South Carolina, Amy Wesson (Brett) of Dearing, South Carolina.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
