Daniel Martin

Cobbtown- Daniel Phillip Martin, 91 died early Tuesday morning, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro. The Bulloch County native lived in Toombs County for seven years before settling in Tattnall County for 51 years. Mr. Martin retired from farming at the age of 89, and lived a long fruitful life. He was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Mary Anna Martin, daughter Joy Dawn Martin, one brother, and two sisters.

Mr. Martin is survived by the following: Wife of 68 years Verdie Lee Martin, Sons: Larry Dean (Joan) Martin of Cobbtown, Danny (Lisa) Martin of Cobbtown, Gary (Peggy) Martin of Uvalda, and Kelmer Gerome Martin of Cobbtown. Daughters: Betty Lee (Edward Lee) Dickerson of Cobbtown, Carolyn (Van) Murray of Augusta, and Darlene (Alvin) Radford of Wadley. Also surviving are Brothers: Junior Martin of Detroit, Michigan, Clifford George Martin of Springfield, and David (Willie Lee) Martin of Thomaston. Sister: Exie Mae Faircloth of Savannah; 16 Grandchildren, and 38 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday evening at Kennedy-Brannen Funeral Homes Cobbtown Chapel, from 5-8pm.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00pm at the Hillside Church of God in Cobbtown. The body will lie in state at the Church from 12-2pm.

Burial will be at the Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins.
