Danny Marcus Strickland, 77, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2024 at Tattnall Healthcare surrounded by family and friends after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. Danny was born April 7, 1946 to Charlie and Margaret Strickland of Glennville. Danny lived most of his life in Glennville, moving away in his early years to serve his country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force, where he was stationed in California. Upon moving back to Glennville Danny worked for the State Highway Department, Claxton Poultry and eventually retired from EMC Engineering Services, Inc. Danny loved small town life and enjoyed the quietness and solitude of the country. In his middle years, Danny could often be found fishing with his children in local ponds and lakes, as well as hunting with his son and nephews in the various places in Tattnall County and Ft. Stewart. Danny loved children and had a tremendous desire to teach them about nature and quiet country life. In his later years, Danny moved to Shellman Bluff where he enjoyed the "Bluff Life", riding his golf cart through the neighborhood and sitting on the front porch speaking to those who passed by. Danny spent his last days at Tattnall Healthcare Nursing Facility in Reidsville, GA, where he was always described as a "mess". He loved people and loved to make them laugh. The staff of Tattnall Healthcare and Hospice of South Georgia became his family...he loved them and they loved him.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Margaret Strickland; a sister, Dale Deal, the mother of his children, Cheryl Strickland and his wife, Elaine Durrence Strickland.
Danny leaves behind his son, Danny Marcus Strickland II (Cristan); his daughter, Jennifer Strickland Conner (Jason); grandchildren, Braden Strickland, Ella Strickland, Cooper Strickland, Brayden Charlie Strickland, Emma Conner and J.P. Conner. He leaves behind a special aunt, Judy Dasher, who loved him like a brother. He also leaves behind his nephews, which he spent many hours with molding them and inspiring them in his own way; Neil Deal, Matt Deal, Richie Pazderski and Joe Waters.
