Metter /Cobbtown Debbie Ruth McCullough Barker, 78, died Tuesday at Azalea Health and Rehabilitation Center where she had been in residence for the last five years. The daughter of Harley and Ella McCullough was born in Emanuel County, and a member of Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church in Aline. As a supportive military wife, she and her family lived in California, Texas, New Jersey, Oklahoma and Germany. Her many talents and hobbies included canning vegetables from her garden, sewing, quilting, gospel music and caring for her friends and family.
She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers and five sisters.
Survivors, husband, Melvin Barker, Jr., sons, Randy (Martha) Barker, Michael (Michelle) Barker, daughters, Elizabeth (Moses) Gentry, Wanda Joyce Mitchell, sisters, Inez Padgett, Katie Lee White, sixteen grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, 4 pm at the New Life Baptist Church. The body will lie in state one hour prior to funeral service. Visitation will be held Friday evening 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
