Don Eleazar Lanier of Cobbtown, Georgia, passed away on October 12, 2021, at the age of 85. Don was born in Collins, Georgia, on October 28, 1935. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eleazar and Eva Lee Jarriel Lanier, son Lee Eleazer Lanier, and sister Elene Lloyd of Savannah, Georgia. He is survived by his wife Marilyn Moxley Lanier of Cobbtown, Georgia, sister Mary Shirey of Conyers, Georgia, and several nieces and nephews.
Don was a graduate of Collins High School and the University of Georgia. He taught Industrial Arts to high school students for over 30 years in both Elberton, Georgia, and Toombs County, Georgia. Don was a master carpenter, woodworker and builder. There was nothing beyond his repair.
Don was a dedicated member of the Cobbtown Lions Club. He also spent many years as a volunteer fireman with the Cobbtown Fire Department. Don enjoyed working on his farm, spending time with his family and friends, riding the roads of Tattnall County, and sharing his knowledge of agriculture and local history.
A private ceremony is planned for immediate family. The arrangements are being handled by the Kennedy Brannen Funeral Home in Metter, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in the name of Don Lanier to the Cobbtown Fire Department, 346 Railroad Street, Cobbtown, Georgia, 30420.
