Donald “Buddy” Nelson Howze, Sr, 71, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Evans Memorial Hospital after injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born January 16, 1949 in Homerville, Georgia to Donald Calvin and Martha White Howze and grew up in Midway, Georgia. Buddy was a Vietnam War Veteran in the US Army and lived in Bluffton, South Carolina for many years. He was a car lover and enthusiast all of his life and was self employed as a mechanic. Buddy was a dirt track race car driver for 25 years at the Oglethorpe Speedway and loved attending classic car shows to display his cars, especially his prized possession “Thumper”. He retired to Glennville 7 years ago and attended Glennville First Baptist Church. Buddy is preceded in death by his father, Donald Calvin Howze; mother, Martha Resinger and a sister, Brenda Howze.

He is survived by:

Wife of 48 years, Patricia Howze of Glennville, Georgia

Children, Cari Howze (David Wooten) of Rincon, Georgia
Donald “Butch” Howze, Jr. (Marianne) of Savannah, Georgia

Siblings, Doris Pope of Savannah, Georgia
Larry “Rabbit” Howze (Linda) of Bluffton, South Carolina
Joan Rushing (Dennis) of Milledgeville, Georgia
Vicki Meyer (Paul) of Savannah, Georgia

Sister-in-law, Sharon Smith (Jerry) of St. Simmons Island, Georgia

Grandchildren, Samantha Wood, Calvin Howze, Cevana Wood,
Hayley Dickerson, Lucas Howze, Ella Howze

Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 12:00 noon, Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at the Chapel of Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Howard officiating. Burial will be in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors.
