Edna Belle Rogers Mulligan
After a long battle with Parkinson's Disease, Edna Belle Rogers Mulligan, 80, a native of Glennville, Georgia, died Friday August 3rd, 2012 at home on the farm where she was born August 28, 1931. She was the youngest of eight children born to the late Julia Smiley Rogers and Byron Green Rogers, Sr. She was a devoted daughter to her parents and loved her brothers and sister. She was proud of her family and always looked forward to their reunions. After graduation from Glennville High School, she attended Draughon's Business College in Savannah. She married Edward Franklin Mulligan on May 14, 1954; they were married 57 years. She worked most of her life as a homemaker and a mother to their three daughters and one son. She loved being outdoors on the farm and especially enjoyed gathering vegetables from her garden. She was an excellent cook and shared many delicious meals with family and friends. She was a member of Glennville United Methodist Church and served it faithfully with her prayers, presence, tithes, and service. She accepted Christ as a teenager, and taught her children to love the Lord through her words as well as by her actions. She is survived by four children and their spouses, Lindy (Ray) Holloway of Jesup, Laura (Joe) Pope of Tifton, Susan (Brent) Walker of Shellman Bluff, and Mike (Paige) Mulligan of Glennville; grandchildren Josh (Lauren) Pope, Jordan (Marcy) Pope, Elizabeth Sutton, Jennifer (Nik) Kodros, Caleb Holloway, Dylan Mulligan, and Faith Mulligan; three great-grand children Parker Pope, Zannis and Lizabelle Kodros; her brothers and sisters-in-law B. G. and Josephine Rogers, Jack and Anne Rogers, Ola Mae Rogers, Willene Rogers all of Glennville, Emory and Etwinda Rogers of Evans County, and Rebecca Mulligan of Greensboro, North Carolina. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers and sisters-in-law Ira and Lucille Rogers, Carlton Rogers, W. A. (Billy) Rogers of Glennville, and by sister and brother-in-law Jewel and Ralph Phillips of Charlotte, North Carolina. She is also survived by special caretakers Faye Culp, Doris Durrence, and Becky Laufman.
Visitation will begin at 6:00pm Saturday, August 4th, 2012 at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home in Glennville
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00pm Sunday, August 5th, 2012 at the Glennville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Glennville City Cemetery.
