Edna Irene Jernigan Simmons, 69, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family and under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. She was born January 20, 1953 to Charles Edward and Nellie Jackson Jernigan living in Glennville all of her life. She was a graduate of Southeastern Technical College as a License Practical Nurse and employed with Glenvue Health and Rehab for 18 years. She loved working with her patients and children. She was a member of Glennville Free Will Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Keevie Simmons, son, Scott Simmons and sister, Ann J. Phillips.

She is survived by, son, Timothy Simmons of Glennville, Georgia

Daughter in law, Jessica Simmons of Douglas, GA

Sisters, Judy N. Owens of Glennville, GA

Jane Stubbs (Donnie) of Glennville, GA

Brothers, Eugene E. “Bud” Jernigan (Patty) of Andersonville, GA

Paul Jernigan (Bertie) of Collins, GA

Two Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home, Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 pm, Tuesday at the Chapel of Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home. Burial will be at Stoney Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
