Joy Tyre, 86, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Community Hospice Inpatient Center in Vidalia, Georgia. Born October 1, 1938, in Jesup, Georgia to Harry and Millie Wilson Tyre, Joy lived a full and joyous life with a servant's heart.
Joy graduated from Jesup High School in 1956. She then attended Georgia Baptist School of Nursing and graduated from Warren A Candler School of Nursing in 1961. After working as an RN in several different hospitals, she began working for the Southeast Health Unit. Joy went on to graduate from nurse practitioner school in Jacksonville, Florida in 1979. Once she became a certified Nurse Practitioner, she became a member of the National Association of Women's Health. Joy retired from the Southeast Unit and Tattnall County after 26 years of service.
After retirement she enjoyed working with animals on her farm and fishing. Joy was a faithful devoted member of Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church for over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Harriet T. Hutchinson, and friend of 50 years, Annette Sikes.
Joy is survived by, her sister, Brenda Driggers (Bert) of Vidalia, Georgia, nephews, Will Driggers and Jayme Hutchinson. She is also survived by two great nephews, and numerous other relatives.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
