Edra Wenona Baker, 85, of Kingsland, GA passed away Thursday, September 9th, 2010 at her home in the arms of her daughters, Tomi, Laura, and special friend, Debbie Tompkins.
Mrs. Baker was born in Glennville, GA on February 18th, 1925, the daughter of LeRoy Banks and Leola Purvis Banks. She married Thomas Leland Baker on September 7th, 1942 and lived in Glennville, GA until 2004 when she relocated to Kingsland, GA to live with her daughter, Tomi.
Mrs. Baker was an avid gardener, accomplished cook, and devoted country music fan. She enjoyed traveling and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years. Her survivors include daughters, Thomasine "Tomi" Damron of Kingsland, GA, Laura Baker of Jacksonville Beach, FL, and Kristy Sands of Hinesville, GA; one brother, Derry (Melba) Banks of Belleville, GA; two sisters, Faye (Terry) Bradley of Claxton, GA and Sue (Thomas) Norby of Charlotte, NC. Grandchildren include Lance Thomas (Susie) Damron of Jacksonville, FL, Courtney Kicklighter of Cherokee, NC, Carling Kicklighter of Savannah, GA, Christy McMichael of Jacksonville, FL and Tony (Sandy) Damron of Middleburg, FL. Great grandchildren include Taylor Damron of Jacksonville, FL, Scottie Leonard of Chicago, IL, Trent Strauss of Jacksonville, FL, Sudie Strauss of Jacksonville, FL, Andrea Barlos of Orlando, FL, Bailey McMichael of Oklahoma City, OK, and Michael and Lily Damron of Middleburg, FL.
Mrs. Baker's family will receive friends on Monday, September 13th, 2010 from 6-8 P.M. at Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home, 206 N. Veterans Blvd, Glennville, GA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 14th at the Chapel of Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Beard's Creek Cemetery, Glennville, GA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Glennville Free Will Baptist Church, 213 S. Veterans Blvd, Glennville, GA, or Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA.
