Elisabeth "Betsy" Oltman Martin, 87, passed away on February 4, 2025, at Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton, Georgia. A cherished individual, she lived a life full of adventure and passion, leaving behind a legacy of love and lively spirit.
Betsy was born on January 11, 1938, in Davenport, Iowa, to Lester and Thelma Hendrix Oltman and grew up as an only child. She lived in Miami, Florida until moving to Glennville in 2008 where she loved living and spending time in rural Georgia. A proud graduate of the University of Georgia in 1960, Betsy loved her alma mater.
Betsy dedicated thirty rewarding years to Air Canada Airlines, where she excelled as a ticket agent supervisor. Her commitment to her career was marked by her unwavering dedication and friendly demeanor, traits that endeared her to colleagues and travelers alike.
Known for her adventurous nature, Betsy embraced life with enthusiasm. She was an avid sports fan who cheered for the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves. In her free time, she would engage in a variety of exhilarating activities including parasailing and driving race a car, and traveled extensively across Europe. These experiences not only shaped her outlook on life but also created countless memories that she treasured deeply.
Betsy was a woman who found joy in her community, particularly within her church family at Northside Baptist Church. Her lively personality and generous spirit made her a beloved member of her congregation and her church friendships meant so much to her.
Betsy is preceded in death by, her parents, husband, Henry Clayton Martin, sons, Thomas "Timmy" Oltman Martin, and Timothy "Timmy" Ivan Martin.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in her honor at 2:00 pm, on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at the chapel of Brannen Family Funeral Services. Friends and family are invited to join together to remember and celebrate the remarkable life of Elisabeth "Betsy" Oltman Martin.
Betsy was an adventurous, vibrant, amazing individual who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
