Ellison "Ellie" "Pa" Hackle
Metter/Evergreen Community- Mr. Ellison "Ellie" "Pa" Hackle 87, of the Evergreen Community, died Tuesday evening at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro. He was a lifelong resident of the Evergreen Community and attended Evergreen Baptist Church. He was a farmer and also was a Veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a gentle, fun loving man, who found much enjoyment out of hunting, fishing and almost anything related to being outdoors. The true delights of his life were his grandsons Brian and Justin Hackle. He is predeceased by his wife, Dovie Lee Duffield Hackle; parents, Ernest Claude and Mattie Lou Thrift Hackle; as well as siblings Audrey Hackle Roberts, E.C Hackle, and Geraldine Hackle Provence.
Mr. Hackle is survived by his sons, Allen (Theresa) Hackle of Statesboro and Ralph (Jean) Hackle of Adrian, GA; grandsons Brian and Justin Hackle both of Adrian, GA. Also surviving are his brothers, Alvie J. Hackle and Jan (Juanita) Hackle all of the Evergreen Community; sisters Dellorah Hackle Wickham of Midway, GA, and Modrea Hackle Collins of Collins, GA.
Visitation will be Friday, April 15, 2016 6:00pm-8:00pm at Kennedy-Brannen Funeral Homes Metter Chapel.
Funeral services will be conducted with full Military Honors, Saturday, April 16, 2016, 11:00am at Evergreen Baptist Church, with Dr. John Geerdes officiating, with Billy Collins assisting. The body will lie in state at the church from 10:00am until time of the funeral.
Burial will follow at the Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Floyd Collins, Barry Hackle, Justin Hackle, Wendell Hackle, Andrew Provence, and Glyn Thrift.
