Elmer Sanders

Elmer Leroy Sanders, 76 of Metter, passed away Thursday morning, February 15, 2018, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center after an extended illness surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Sanders was born on March 16, 1941 to Mr. Elmer Leroy and Mary Carpenter Sanders in Orlando, Florida. He moved to Metter in 1979. He and his wife owned and operated Carolyn's Upholstery here in Metter. He was of the Baptist faith and in his spare time he enjoyed cooking, knife collecting, fishing, car collecting and was an avid NASCAR fan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Leroy and Mary Sanders; brother, Nick Sanders; sisters, Geneva Gibbs and Mary Lee Durden.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Bazemore Sanders of Metter; children, Gary Sanders of Sacramento, CA, Buzzy Sanders (Chris) of Elk Grove, CA, Tracey Easter (Jeremy) of Sacramento, CA, Tabatha Strickland of Metter, Ray Huff (Cindy) of Metter and David Huff of Toccoa; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Myrtle Jonson of Statesboro and Alice Batey (Chuck) of Stuart, FL; sisters-in-law, Mary Bazemore and Annette Bazemore both of Metter. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be held on Saturday evening, February 17, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. from the Kennedy-Brannen Funeral Home, Metter Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday afternoon, February 18, 2018 at 3 p.m. from the Metter Chapel of Kennedy-Brannen Funeral Home with Elder Michael Newman officiating. Burial will follow in the Lake Cemetery.
Pallbearers are nephews Butch Braner, Norman Brown, Joey Wright, John Sells, David Marshall Burdett and Riley Sells.
