Emily Wells Forsyth
Emily Forsyth met her Heavenly Father on June 22, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. She dedicated her life to family, first as a homemaker for her four children, then her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing games; Uno, Yahtzee, and Checkers were some of her favorites. Some of her grandchildren stand firm in the knowledge that she was a fierce competitor and sometimes a cheater. Reading, crossword puzzles, singing in the church choir, and yard work were among some other favorite past times. At any point in the year, after a visit to Ms. Emily's house, you knew exactly what holiday was around the corner. She absolutely loved decorating her house for every season and holiday, never leaving a stone unturned. Starting in 1998, she quickly picked up a hobby to supplement her picture taking. After learning the ins and outs of scrapbooking, Emily became a Creative Memories consultant. She loved filling book after book full of precious memories. Being raised in Florida, the annual family beach vacation was a highlight, filling the scrapbook pages and adding to her collection of memories.
Besides her immediate family, Emily's greatest joy was her church family. Her husband, Paul Forsyth Jr, was led to preach in Orlando, Florida, later moving to Claxton, Georgia in the 1970's. She dedicated more than 30 years to being a church secretary with her last position being at Watermelon Creek Baptist Church. Ms. Emily began teaching Sunday school first to children, then to middle school girls which then lead up to an Awana leader. She found her calling later, teaching a widow's class. Over the years, her class brought her immense joy. She made amazing memories and incredible friendships with these ladies.
Her greatest accomplishments were as a Mom, a Grandmother and a woman of Faith, never wavering, never questioning God's purpose for her life. She is home now and we all look forward to spending our eternal lives with our Mom, Grammy, Me-Maw, MeMe, Aunt, and our beloved Bea when we see her at the gates of Heaven. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Forsyth Jr.
