Emory Lee Rogers passed into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, just two weeks short of his 97th Birthday. He was born to Byron Green & Julia Smiley Rogers of Glennville on December 3, 1923.
He was a people person and loved to sit on his porch swing and wave at everyone that passed by. Emory was a member of the Armed Forces during World War II. After serving, he came back home and married his sweetheart, Etwinda Baxter. Together they started farming various crops and produce. He delighted in sharing the fruits of his labor with many people. He truly enjoyed traveling with his siblings in the red van. Emory also spent many years driving the school bus for Evans County and also served as a substitute mail delivery man.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Ira (Lucille), Carlton (Ola Mae), B.G. (Josephine), Jack (Anne), Billy (Willene) Rogers and sisters Jewell Rogers (Ralph) Phillips, and Edna Belle Rogers (Ed) Mulligan.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Etwinda Rogers, two daughters Ginger(Jerome) Parker and Jan (Walter) Baxter. Grandchildren Wendy (Perry) Scarborough, Haley (Sean) Howard, Misty (Will) Self, Barrett (Jami) Baxter, &,Lindsey (Yates) Cooler. Great grandchildren Cayla & Cody Scarborough, John, Jake & Baylee Howard, Trent Self, Emmaline & Amelia Baxter, & Russell & Emory Cooler. Several special nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at the Glennville City Cemetery at 2pm on Friday, November 20, 2020 with Elder David Summerford officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Beards Creek Primitive Baptist Church, 60 Beards Creek Church Rd, Glennville GA 30427 or the American Lung Association.
The family would like to thank Community Hospice for the care they provided to Emory and his family.
