Eric Hemphill


Metter- Mr. Eric Hemphill 59, of Metter died Thursday morning, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah. The Candler County native has lived in the area most of his life, and was retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections. He was a member of Metter First Baptist Church. He was an avid sports fan, who enjoyed football, softball, and fishing and had even coached baseball teams in the area. Eric was preceded in death by his parents Elton and Loreta Hemphill.

He is survived by his Wife Shelly Drew Hemphill of Metter, Son Whitny (Christy) Hemphill of Cobbtown, Daughters Brittany Hemphill Wright (Wesley) of Lyons, and Iler Drew of Claxton. Brothers Everette (Donna) Hemphill of Byron, Georgia and Brett Hemphill of Smyrna, Georgia. Also surviving are 3 Grandchildren Karlie Wright, Payton Wright, and Alyssa Jackson.

Visitation will be held Saturday April 6, 2013 from 2:00-4:00pm, with a celebration of Eric's life at 4:00pm at the Metter Chapel of Kennedy-Brannen Funeral Homes.

Burial will be private
