Ernestine Groover

Ernestine W. Groover, 96, entered her heavenly home Sunday, March 19, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her family and under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. She was born October 26, 1926 in Hahira, Georgia to Rayford and Nicey Smiley Wetherington and lived here most of her life. Ernestine was a homemaker until 1959 when she went to work at Ft. Stewart and retired from Civil Service as a Supply Clerk after 22 years. She was a faithful member of Glennville First Baptist Church since 1976 where she was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class, Keenagers and numerous committees. Ernestine was the matriarch of her family and loved to spend time with and cook for them. She loved the Lord and was the definition of a Proverbs 31 woman, always living her life according to her values and never swaying. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Cecil Groover, brothers, Dallas Wetherington and Alvin Wetherington, sister, Hazel Jennings, daughter, Linda Griffin and a son, Danny Groover.

Mike Groover (Marie) all of Glennville, Georgia

Brothers, Leon Wetherington of San Diego, California

Ralph Wetherington of Gatlin, Tennessee

Earl Wetherington of Tampa, Florida

Ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm, Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Brannen Family Funeral Services. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Glennville First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Howard officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Glennville Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be deacons of Glennville First Baptist Church.
