Eugene “Gene” Hallman, 90, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025.
A native of Tattnall County, Gene honorably served four years as a Medical Service Specialist in the United States Air Force, followed by four years in the Air National Guard. He was a lifelong, third-generation member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served faithfully in various capacities, including as a Bishop, High Councilman, and Service Missionary in Macon.
Gene was a dedicated businessman, owning and operating Hallman Shell in both Macon and Forsyth. Outside of work, he was an avid genealogist, a talented automobile restorer, and a passionate gardener and landscaper. However, his greatest joy in life came from spending time with his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who affectionately called him “PaPa.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Daras Hallman and Myrtle May Flowers Hallman; his four sisters, Geraldine Hallman Odum (Odell), Maxine Hallman Martin (John), Goldie Hallman Kicklighter (Perry), and his twin, Lorraine Hallman Warren (Herman); and two brothers, Onis Hallman (Myrtice) and Dane Hallman (Cathy).
Gene is survived by his wife, Linda Strickland Vaught; his children, Cheryl Hallman Patton (Gordon) of Macon and Eugene Hallman, Jr. (Julie) of Juliette; his stepchildren, Rosemary Robertson (Scott) of East Rochester, Ohio, and James “Bobby” Vaught of Richmond Hill; his cherished grandchildren, Tiffany Patton Snavely (Dan) of Worthington, Ohio, Lauren Patton Stewart (Philip) of Cumming, Caroline Patton Middleton (Mark) of Hilliard, Ohio, Genna Hallman, and Jordan Flores of Juliette; and his adored great-grandchildren, Sophia, Audrey, Carter, Grayson, Adam and Hayden.
