Evelyn Sikes

January 11, 1946 — May 6, 2012

Twin City Evelyn Grimes Sikes, 66, died Sunday evening at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta after an extended illness. She worked at Ithaca Industries, was a talented seamstress, a wonderful homemaker whose passion was her family and loved being called "Nana" by her grandchildren. She was of Baptist faith, enjoyed flower gardening and fishing with her husband Roy. As her family related, she was sweet and spicy all rolled up in one. Her doctors and caregivers, who became her second family, described her as "spunky" as she fought liver failure for the last eight years. She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends.

Mrs. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents, two brothers and one sister.

Surviving, husband, Roy Sikes of Twin City, daughters, Connie (Mickey) Flanders of Kite, Carol (Jack, Jr.) Mincey of Garfield, Sue (Brian) Oliver of Rincon, brother, David (Arlene) Grimes of Twin City, sisters, Mary Goodman of Bloomingdale, Earlene (Lamar) Archer of Twin City, five grandchildren, Richard Patrick, Sydney Flanders, Christin Flanders, C.J. Mincey, Faith Mincey. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, 11:00 am in the chapel of Kennedy Morgan Brannen Funeral Homes with burial to follow in the Antioch Church cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening 6-8 pm also at the funeral home.
