Fay Purcell Tripp, 77 passed away peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Friday, November 11, 2016 at Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Center in Statesboro. She was born Linnie Fay Dyal to Jonah and Rosie (Bagley) on February 15, 1939 in Alma, Georgia and was the youngest of three sisters. She worked for the Prudential Life Insurance Company in Jacksonville, Florida for many years, prior to moving to Glennville in 1971 and marrying her husband, Avery Purcell with whom she had one daughter, Tammy Denise. Before her husband's death in 1981, Fay was a secretary at Glenvue Nursing Home. Later in life, she became the owner/operator of Glennville Quality Cleaners and was known as an honest, trustworthy business woman. In 1999, Fay married Howard Tripp and enjoyed many years of traveling and laughter. She had the good fortune if marrying two hard working men who shared her mischievous nature and love of practical jokes. She enjoyed sewing, painting, tending to her flowers and especially cooking. Fay was a caring and selfless mother, sister and friend, who adored her loved ones, but loved Jesus most of all. She was a life-long member of Calvary Baptist Church. Fay is preceded in death by: her parents; husbands, Avery Purcell and Howard Tripp; sisters, Reba Medders Dean and Winona Hopson Yarbrough; niece, Teresa Medders Bryant; brother-in-law Terrell Medders, Marvin Hopson, Alvin Tripp, and Darvin Purcell.
She is survived by a daughter, Tammy (Michael) Lynn of Glennville; sister-in-law Joyce Purcell; brother-in-law, Warren Tripp and Carroll (Pat) Dyal; two grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm, Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am, Monday, November 14, 2016 at the Chapel of Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home. Burial will be in Glennville City Cemetery.
