Freda Ann Fannin Anderson passed away Saturday, December 12, 2015 at her residence in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
Mother. . . . . we've never known a day without her.
Our Mother was born a month before the 1929 crash on Wall Street, when the buffalo nickel paid for a soda, a stamp was 2 cents and penicillin changed our world. She was the daughter of a successful businessman and grew up in the Ohio River community of Ashland, Kentucky. After graduation from Ashland High School, where she'd had a role in the class play and was named the Irish Fair Queen. She then followed her sister to college at Western Kentucky University. There she was voted "Best Dressed" and always looked fabulous 'til the end of her life.
Freda Ann Fannin married her handsome WWII Marine in 1948 and enjoyed being a wife and young mother. Three daughters later they moved to sunny Florida and when Mom died Saturday she was in the home Dad had built for his "four girls" in 1963. Freda played bridge, read mysteries, was a "Pink Lady" hospital volunteer and was especially fond of "Star Trek". She loved a Coca Cola and had a sweet tooth, one of her best offerings was a perfect German Chocolate Cake.
Freda and her husband had many wonderful times with family and friends in their motor home, attended the Kentucky and Florida Derbies, and made annual trips to Las Vegas. Mom also traveled to exotic locales with her daughters......she liked to be "on the go".
She will be greatly missed by her six grandchildren who celebrated family holidays with her in Fort Lauderdale. She is to be laid to rest in Glennville beside her beloved husband, William C. Anderson.
A family memorial will be held at Brannen~Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel. Remembrances to the Paul Anderson Youth Home, PO Box 525, Vidalia, GA 30475.
