Garland Gene Wilds, 91, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Piedmont Walton Hospital in Monroe, Georgia with his Daughter at his side. Gene was born July 30, 1929 in Glennville to Garland and Minnie Ruth Kicklighter Wilds. He lived in Fitzgerald for over twenty years moving back to Glennville after retirement and lived in Monroe for the past several years. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, Graduate of University of Georgia and retired from Gulf Oil Corporation in Sales. He was a loving, caring father, grandfather and great grandfather and enjoyed traveling and being with family and friends. He was a member of Glennville First Baptist Church and a member of the Amanda DeLoach/Bruce Dubberly Sunday School Class and attended Monroe First Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Ronella “Ronnie” Haymans Wilds.
He is survived by, Children, Lesa Wilds Shows (Wyatt) of Monroe, Georgia
Madison “Matt” Gene Wilds (Gail) of Orlando, Florida
Grandchildren, Wyatt Shows III, (Lindsay) of Foley, AL, Alexa Shows of Monroe, GA, great granddaughter, Harper Grace Shows of Foley, AL, other relatives and friends also survive.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, Friday, November 27, 2020 at Brannen Kenendy Funeral Home in Glennville. Graveside Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am, Friday at the Glennville City Cemetery with Rev. Mike Howard officiating.
Due to COVID-19, social distancing guidelines of six feet will be enforced. Masks are not required but are highly recommended.
