Gerald Paul Lewandowski, 77, died Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah. The Brooklyn, New York native had lived in this area for many years. He was retired from the U.S. Army as an E7 Sgt. First Class with 23 years of service and also retired from Georgia Department of Corrections with 20 years of service. While in the Military he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award), Good Conduct Medal (4th Award), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, 3 Overseas Bars, Driver's Badge with Bar. He was a member of the POAG, American Legion Post # 95 and Glennville VFW Post # 8379 and was of the Catholic faith. He was an avid Blue Tide and Atlanta Braves baseball fan.
