Geraldine "Gerry" Simpson Ramirez, 85 of Metter, passed away Friday afternoon, February 16, 2018 at Candler County Hospital surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Ramirez was born on April 22, 1932 to Mr. Rufus and Mrs. Alice Simpson in Adrian, Georgia. She resided in Metter most of her life, and worked as a bookkeeper for Willow Lake Country Club for many years and retired from Olliff & Fordham. She was of the Baptist faith and in her spare time she enjoyed tending to her gardening, reading, scratching lottery tickets, as a military wife enjoyed traveling the world with her husband and taking care of her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Rufus and Mrs. Alice Simpson; husband, Eliseo (Ray) Ramirez; brother, Euthan Simpson, sisters, Irene Kingery, Lousie Blackburn and Maude Dunahoo.
She is survived by her sons, Gary Ramirez of Atlanta and Tony Ramirez (Linda) of Metter; grandchildren, Anthony Ramirez, Alice Averett (Derek), Emily Ramirez and Aaron Ramirez all of Metter; great-grandchildren, Madison Ray Anne Ramirez, Brynlee Kate Averett, Quinn Elizabeth Green all of Metter; brother, Randall Simpson of Metter; sister, Ruth Trapnell of Metter. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be held on Monday morning, February 19, 2018 from the Metter Chapel of Kennedy-Brannen Funeral Homes with the family receiving friends from 9:00 -10:30 a.m. Graveside Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 a.m from the Lake Cemetery with Pastor Ray Woodcock officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be nephews Tommie Kingery, Hut Kingery, Lester Kingery, Lee Kingery, Hudson Kingery and Kris Trapnell.
