Harris W. Kicklighter, 87, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2013. He was born July 27, 1926 in Glennville to B. Leaston and Narcy Bacon Kicklighter and lived here all of his life.. After graduating Glennville High School, he was drafted in the Army and served with the Military Police at Pearl Harbor shortly after the Japanese attack. He served with the Honor Guard over the burial of several thousand service members at Pearl Harbor. He was a member of the Glennville First Christian Church for more than 50 years, where he served as deacon, board chairman, Sunday School Teacher and Building Chairman for the present First Christian Church. He was the past president of the Glennville Lions Club, where he was selected as "Man of the Year". He was past President of the Tattnall County Fair Association, and served on the Tattnall County Board of Education for 12 years. He was past President of Tattnall County Farm Bureau where he was selected as Top Farmer in Georgia and Soil Conservation "Man of the Year" and also served on the board of Tattnall County DFCS for 3 years. He served on former Governor Jimmy Carter's Staff for 4 years and was elected as a voting delegate for the Democratic National Convention in Miami Florida. During Governor Carter's term he put in for and received $210,000.00 to help build the Glennville Recreation Center. He was a member of the Gideon International Organization for 27 years. He loved sports and supported the local children's recreation center where he sponsored the "Glennville Seafood" softball team for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters and brothers in law, Era & Leighton Purvis, Lerie & Ernest Strickland. brothers and sisters in law, Wilford and Jewel Kicklighter, Celton Kicklighter, Haven & Margie Kicklighter and Clanton Kicklighter.

Wife of 66 years, Nancy Hatten Kicklighter of Glennville
Son and Daughter in Law, Dale and Darlene Kicklighter of Glennville
Grandsons, Clayton D. (Amy) Kicklighter and Joshua H. Kicklighter all of Glennville
Sister in Law, Alma T. Kicklighter of Glennville
Great Grandchildren, Kade and Maddox Kicklighter, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will begin at 12:30 PM, Monday, December 30, 2013 at Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Chapel of Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home. Burial will be in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors.
