Helen Mercer

Portal Helen Fouche Mercer, 51, died Friday evening at her residence. She was born in Atlanta to parents Charles and Betty Creech Fouche. She had lived in Portal for the past ten years and was a member of Cedar Street Baptist Church of Metter. As a military wife she lived and traveled to many different countries including Belgium and Germany.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Surviving; husband, Charles T. Mercer, Army Major retired, son, Stephen C. Mercer, Marine 2nd Lieutenant of Okinawa, Japan.

Brothers, Steven (Kaylynn) Fouche of Dallas, Georgia, Charles Fouche of Cleveland, Georgia. Mother-in-law, Ramona Mercer of Metter.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, 3 p.m. at Kennedy Brannen Funeral Homes, Metter chapel. Visitation will be Sunday evening 5-7 at the funeral home.
