Jacob Amstrong

October 6, 1984 — February 27, 2018

Jacob Allen Armstrong, 33, formerly of Glennville, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly after a long illness just before noon on February 27, 2018. He was born in West Monroe, Louisiana on October 6, 1984 to the late Jeffery "Jeff" Allen Armstrong and Deborah "Debbie" Lewis Armstrong. Jacob most recently resided in Buford, Ga.

A Glennville, Georgia native of 16 years, Jacob participated in many recreational sports often coached by his father, Jeff. For many years, Jacob worked for his father at their family business, Armstrong's Cricket Farm, where his knowledge was extremely valuable. He went on to graduate from Tattnall County High School in 2003 as a four-year letter winner on the varsity football team and was a member of the track and field team. He later attended Ogeechee Technical College and studied electrical contracting.

Jacob, an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends, watching football, listening to country music, and spending time with his family; especially his nieces Avery, Charlotte, and Brooklyn. His fun, playful, and sometimes mischievous personality made for plenty of excitement and laughs for all in his company. His family never knew when he was joking or being serious since his elaborate stories were cultivated so well. Despite ongoing battles with his health, Jacob never lost the desire to better himself in order to return home and work at the family business. He was a gentle giant who loved children with a fatherly spirit. Jacob's friends and family knew him by many names. "Tank, Bam Bam, Snake, Big Jake, Jape Jape, and Jeecup" were spoken by many. He was most lovingly known as "Jake".

Jacob is preceded in death by his father, Jeff Armstrong; grandparents, W.T. "Bill" Armstrong and Betty Lewis, both of West Monroe, LA; his Aunt Sharon Burris of Cabot, AR, and Uncle Butch Lewis of West Monroe, LA. He is survived by his loving mother, Debbie Armstrong of Buford, GA; caring sisters Paige Ewing (Michael) of Buford, GA, and Jessica Curran (Liam) of Kennesaw, GA; adoring nieces Avery and Charlotte Ewing and Brooklyn Curran; grandmother Nell Armstrong of Glennville, GA; grandfather Lloyd Lewis of West Monroe, LA; uncles Jack Armstrong (Betty) and Jimmy Armstrong (Crystal); aunts Juli Zopf (John) and Dianne Lyons (Charlton); and several loving cousins.

Services will be held at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home in Glennville, Ga on Sunday, March 4, 2018. Visitation begins at 1:00 pm and the funeral chapel service begins at 3:00 pm. Dr. Rick Cason and Dr. Tom R. Sollosi will officiate. A graveside service and burial will follow at The Glennville City Cemetery.
