Jacquelyn “Jackie” DeLoach Thomas, age 89, began her eternal life on December 9, 2022, under the care of Affinis Hospice at Oxley Park Nursing Home in Lyons, Georgia. Jackie was born March 23,1933, to the late Arnie and Lela Mae Deloach. She grew up in Glennville, GA, graduating from Glennville High School in 1951. In November of 1952, she married her high school sweetheart and classmate Julian Benjamin Thomas. Together they had one child, Julian Danny Thomas.
Jackie worked for The Glennville Bank for over 40 years. She was a faithful member of the Glennville First Baptist Church and its Friendship Sunday School Class. Outside of her family and her job, Jackie’s greatest passion was gardening and sharing this special gift with her family, friends, and community. A proud member of the Glennville Garden Club, Jackie devotedly served as their President numerous years. In appreciation of her dedication and commitment to the club, she was honored in October 2022 with a certificate for Life Membership in the Garden Club of Georgia.
Jackie is preceded in death by her husband, Julian Thomas; her son, Danny Thomas; her parents, Arnie and Lela Mae Deloach; a sister, Earldine DeLoach Tootle, and a niece, Jennifer Tootle Mims.
Survivors include, a daughter-in-law, Libba Durrence Thomas of Glennville, GA; grandsons, Brett (Wendy) Thomas and Drew (Lindsay) Thomas, both of Glennville, GA; beloved great-grandsons, Waylon Thomas of Glennville, GA; and Wilkes, Jack, and Eli Thomas, all of Glennville, GA; and a cherished niece, Beverly T. Price of Prattville, AL.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 am, Monday, December 12, 2022 at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am at Glennville First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Glennville City Cemetery.
