Glennville
James Clyde Tootle, 96, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Ogeechee Area Hospice. He was born January 10, 1916 in Glennville to Willie and Elizabeth "Bessie" Purcell Tootle and lived here all of his life. Clyde proudly served his country in the Army in World War II with the rank of Tech SGT. He was in the 1901st Engineer Aviation Battalion and was in the main force of the invasion of Okinawa. He was a life member of Glennville V.F.W. Post 8379 and American Legion Post 95. He was a charter member of Tattnall Invincibles, Camp #154, Sons of Confederate Veterans and a life member of Friends of Old Shiloh Cemetery. He was the oldest member of Glennville Volunteer Fire Department and was retired from Civil Service at Ft. Stewart. He was self employed as a Heavy Equipment Operator and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM, Monday, May 28, 2012 at Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Burial will be in Old Shiloh Cemetery with Confederate Military Honors.
The body will taken to the church at 1:00 PM to lie in state.
