James Gay, Sr.

July 31, 1939 — April 2, 2011

Garfield - Mr. James Clifford Gay, Sr., 71, of Garfield died Saturday, April 2, 2011, at his home after an extended illness. Mr. Gay was an Emanuel County native. He was of the Baptist faith. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed farming, gardening, and sports. His joy was his family, especially his grandchildren.

Mr. Gay is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Sanders Gay of Garfield; son, James Clifford (Judy) Gay, Jr. of Twin City; daughters, Pamela Gay Durden of Swainsboro and Sondra Gay (Jim) Cowart of Garfield; grandchildren, Janna Gay (Brett) Tucker, Rebecca Gay (Jason) McNeely, Rhett Gay, Maryanna Durden, Miriam Durden, Zachary Cowart, and Abigail Cowart; a brother, Richard (Theresa) Gay of Metter; and sisters, Lynette (Connor) Berry of Statesboro and Nancy Baird of Twin City. He was predeceased by his parents, Clifford and Rita Parker Gay and a sister, Carolyn Gay.

Funeral Services will be held at 3PM, Monday, April 4, 2011, at Kennedy Morgan Brannen Funeral Home in Metter with burial in the Eastbrook Cemetery in Swainsboro.
