James Griffin

James Vernon Griffin, 90, passed away Monday, April 3, 2023, at the Journey in Claxton, Georgia. He was born December 20, 1932, to Burrill Blitch and Theressa Alice Jones Griffin and lived here all of his life. Vernon was employed with Union Camp for many years and was a Correctional Officer with Georgia State Prison. He was a farmer and enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and spending time with his family. Vernon is a member of Rye Patch Baptist Church and is preceded in death by his parents, son, James Griffin, step-daughter, Cindy Uresti, siblings, Annie Ruth Sellers, Merle Futch and Julian Griffin.

Wife, Nancy Griffin of Glennville, Georgia

Daughters, Regina Waters (Dennis) of Glennville, Georgia
Susan Douglas (Joe) of Canton, Georgia
Karen Jackson (Walter) of LaGrange, Georgia

Step-Daughters, Shirley Clements (Bart)
Joy Wilson (Ricky) both of Glennville, Georgia

Twelve grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm, Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Brannen Family Funeral Services. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm, Thursday, April 6, 2023 at the chapel of Brannen Family Funeral Services with Rev. Jerry Knight and Rev. Steve Posey officiating. Burial will follow in Watermelon Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
