Janice Teston Joseph-Cathcart, 79, passed away Friday, May 20, 2022, at her residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. She was born January 9, 1943 to Cliff and Lois Leggett Teston and lived in this area most of her life. Janice was a 1961 graduate of Glennville High School. She was an elementary and middle school teacher in Tattnall County and Chatham County for 22 years. She was loved, adored and respected by students and peers alike. After retirement, she continued her love of teaching by volunteering in many local classrooms sharing her knowledge through science experiments. Janice was a highly involved parent supporting her two daughters in 4-H, Band, Softball and Cheerleading. Janice was a major contributor with the website, Find A Grave, and spent countless hours in local cemeteries, researching and connecting family genealogy. Gone with the Wind was her favorite movie of all time and is evident by the vast collection she has displayed in her home. Reading and sewing were among her favorite hobbies. Janice was lovingly referred to as Mema by her four grandchildren who gave her the most joy in her life. She was a member of Glennville United Methodist Church and is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Lannis Teston, sister, Joyce Kicklighter and husband, Reid Cathcart.

Holly Baxter (David) of Glennville, Georgia
Grandchildren, Kaitlyn Baxter of Glennville
Breanna Harris (Will Hobbs) of Statesboro
Joe Baxter of Glennville
Austyn Harris (Jackie) of Norcross
Several nieces, nephews, step-families and other relatives also survive.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm, Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, May 22, 2022 at the chapel of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Harmony United Methodist Church Cemetery.
