Jerry Cox, 69, died Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro. The Kentucky native was a U.S. Army Veteran moving to this area in 1987. He was retired from the Teamster's Union # 299 as a truck driver with Gateway Transportation and also retired from the Department of Corrections. Mr. Cox worked at the Tattnall County Commissioner's Office for a number of years and helped start the solid waste program for the county. He also served as a member of the Reidsville City Council He was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church.

Step-Great-Grandsons:Layne & Gavin Willis
Several nieces and nephews also survive
Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm, Friday, July 8, 2011 at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home in Reidsville.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the chapel of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home, Reidsville Chapel with Rev. Steve Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Reidsville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Brad Barnard, Daniel Anderson, Lenton Brown, Jeff Kearse, David Harris, Jerry Burkhalter.
Honorary Pallbearers: Grady Lewis, Dianne Sharpe, Rev. Ronald Warren and Reginald Ray.
Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home of Reidsville, is in charge of the arrangements.
