Jerry W. Sands, 75, passed away Sunday night, April 12, 2015 at Ogeechee Area Hospice In- patient center. He was born in Glennville Feb. 5, 1940 to Harold B. and Willa Mae Brannen Sands
and lived in the Glennville and Hinesville area most of his life. He was employed with the Georgia Department of Transportation for 10 years and was a civil engineer instructor at Savannah Vocational Technical School for 13 years. He retired from the City of Hinesville as Assistant Public Works Director after 20 years of service. He retired from the Georgia National Guard as Sgt. 1st Class and was an avid outdoorsman and liked to fish and camp. He also liked to restore antique cars.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Terry Sands; and a grandson, Jerome Porter.

Wife of 44 years: Lois D. Sands of Glennville
Son:Terry (Jeanie) Porter of Glennville
Sisters:Lucy Nall and Ermadean Long, both of Glennville
Marilyn Browning of Gainesville, FL
Brothers: Beach Sands of Claxton, Gary (Tub) (Kay) Sands of Glennville
Granddaughter: Erica (Brock) Mantz of Camp Lejeune, NC
Great-granddaughters: Heidi and Madison Mantz
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 6:00 pm at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Thursday, April 16, at 11:00 am at the chapel of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home with Rev. Edward Brannen and Rev. Jerry Knight officiating. Burial will follow in Harmony United Methodist Church Cemetery with Military Honors.
