Jessie Winton Kennedy, 80, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at his home in Mendes surrounded by his family. He was born August 8, 1942, one of 16 children to Carl and Eula Mae Bell Kennedy, and lived in Glennville all of his life. Winton had a gift in conversation and would brighten the lives of everyone around him. He farmed all his life, taking over his Dad’s farm. His work ethic never dwindled, as he could still be seen tending to chores on the farm until his last days. He was a 1962 graduate of Glennville High School. He loved his family and was a loving, caring, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Winton was a member of Harmony Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Roger Clifton Kennedy, Bertie Lee Jones, Martha Lou Purvis, Gene Franklin Kennedy, Daniel Roger Kennedy, Jimps Beryl “Bo” Kennedy, Mittie Carolyn Taylor, Charlie Cecil Kennedy, Linda Dale Smiley, and Lavene Kennedy Bell.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Weston Kennedy, of Glennville; children, Winton Lee Kennedy (Janet) of Glennville, David Kennedy (Amy) of Eatonton, and Melinda Joy Kemner (Mike) of Hinesville; grandchildren, Jessica Mitchell (Joseph), Matthew Kennedy (Kirsten), Madison Kennedy, and Blake Kemner; great grandchild Lindan Mitchell; brothers Wayne Kennedy (Betty), Royce Kennedy (Rhonda); sisters Lula Kennedy, Brenda Parker, and Donna Wood; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 12:30 pm, Friday, November 11, 2022 at Harmony Church. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, November 11, 2022 at Harmony Church. Burial will follow at Harmony Church Cemetery.
