John B. Moore, 96 passed away Sunday, October 13, 2019 at his residence in Miami, Florida
Born in Naylor, Georgia, a small community outside of Valdosta, to Marion “Lowndes” and Remie Moore. John’s family moved to Miami when John was three settling in a small area of Miami known as Perrine. John had two older brothers, Marion Lowndes, Jr. and Jesse, who went by his middle name Marlin. John met his future wife, Merle Strickland in 1942 and after a short courtship they were married. Not long after they were married, John was sent overseas serving in the Pacific in World War ll. He and Merle had four children, Marion, John, Richard and Elizabeth. Most of John’s career was spent in farming working for Hagan Farms. John worked until age 83 doing what he loved to do. But his real love was his wife, Merle. John and Merle were married nearly seventy-seven years.
John is survived by his wife, of 77 years, Merle Strickland Moore of Miami, FL., Children, Marion Cramer (Kevan) of Miami, FL., John G. Moore of Durham N.C., Richard H. Moore (Rhonda) of Miami, Fl., Elizabeth, Moore (Thomas Garvanian) of North Palm Beach, FL., six grandchildren, Richard C. Moore, Amanda Dahill-Moore, Katherine Moore, Mariah Dahill-Moore, Nicholas Cramer, and Josiah Moore.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 21, 2019 at Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home in Glennville. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 AM, Monday at the Chapel of Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Miller officiating. Burial will be in Watermelon Creek Church Cemetery.
