Josephine Rogers

July 17, 1928 — September 28, 2016

Josephine DeLoach Rogers, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at age 88. She was surrounded by her family and friends at her residence in Glennville. She has been under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice in addition to Dr. Paul Thompson and Staff. The Tattnall County native was born July 17, 1928 to Joseph Ross DeLoach and Della Swindell DeLoach. As a lifelong resident of Glennville, she was a faithful member of the Glennville Free Will Baptist Church since 1941. She served as Sunday school teacher, choir member, secretary, and treasurer of the Gleaners Sunday School class for many years. She retired from Civil Service, having worked at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Dublin and at Ft. Stewart. In 1948, she married Byron G. Rogers Jr. They made their home in Glennville, for over 66 years. She is preceded in death by: her parents, husband (B.G. Rogers Jr.), brother (Whitney DeLoach), sisters (Annella DeLoach and Helen Sands), and great grandsons (Chance Kennedy and Drake Walker).
She is survived by:

Lesa Brannen (Ray) of Glennville
Son: Michael Rogers (Gilda) of Claxton,
Grandchildren: Lynn (Joey) McGlashan, Jason (Tia) Walker, Benjie Walker (Kristen), Byron (Mara) Brannen,Brooke Brannen, and Mitch (Candice) Rogers
Brother and sister in-Law & Emory & Etwinda Rogers of Reidsville
Sister in-Law: Ola Mae Rogers of Glennville
12 Great Grandchildren, Several Nieces and Nephews
Special Friend: John Milton Carter
Special Caregivers: Robin Stanfield and Patty Reddish
Visitation will begin at 5:30 pm, Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am, Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Chapel of Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Montgomery and Dr. Paul Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Jason Walker, Benjie Walker, Mitch Rogers, Joey McGlashan, Byron Brannen, Wesley Kennedy.
Remembrances to: Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30458.
