Juanita Barnhill Phillips died November8, 2015 at John Wesley Villas in Savannah, GA under the care of Compassionate Care Hospice. She was born April 7, 1926 in Glennville, GA.
She moved from Savannah to Richmond Hill, GA in 1978 and lived there until 2 years ago when she moved to John Wesley Villas.
She was predeceased by her husband, Emmett Thomas Phillips, her parents Archie and Leila Todd Barnhill and all of her siblings, Clara Branch, Bernice Barnhill, Vivian DeLoach, Bessie Altman, Irene Beasley, Claudine Dasher, and Thelma Culver.
Juanita was a member of the Richmond Hill United Methodist Church.
Juanita had a long and successful career in insurance and financial services, beginning with the Mass Mutual General Agency in Savannah. After serving as the office manager there, she decided to move into sales, and joined the New England Life Insurance Agency in Savannah. She led the agency in production many times in her 30 years there and she also earned company recognition as a leader in production. She was a Life Member of the Million Dollar Round Table. However, her accomplishments are not limited to sales, as she mentored several other representatives early in their careers, and was always generous in sharing her ideas and encouragement. She was founding director of the Bryan Bank and Trust Company.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Carl "Bubba" Feus, her son Dennis Emmett Phillips, all of Savannah, GA and her six grandchildren, Brian Feus and wife Heather of Sumter, SC, Amanda Kobek and her husband Adam of Savannah, GA, Jeffery Feus and his wife Chelsey of Beaufort, SC, Matthew Phillips of Savannah, GA, Annie Dean and her husband Josh , and Caroline Phillips all of San Diego, CA and her six great-grandchildren who brought her much joy these last few years, Emmeline and Eleanor Kobek, Olivia, Phillip, Lily and Daniel Feus and also several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brian Feus, Jeffery Feus, Matthew Phillips, Gary Branch, Ralph Clark, Adam Kobek and Josh Dean.
Visitation will be 10:00 am Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Harmony United Methodist Church, 1688 Harmony Church Road, Glennville, GA followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am officiated by the Reverend Glenn Martin. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
