Julien E. Mingledorff, age 86, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2022. He was born in Hinesville and graduated from Bradwell Institute. He was instrumental in organizing the Hinesville Fire Department and held the position of Fire Chief for 30 years. After retiring from the fire department, he moved to Tattnall County and lived there until Onetha, his loving wife of 53 years, passed away. He then moved to Colonels Island, a place he spent his childhood summers and loved dearly. He remained there until recently going to Sunabella in Savannah for additional care.
He was a loving husband and devoted father. He was a loyal to all his friends and had a heart of gold. He was always willing to help those in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Inez Tippins Mingledorff and Frederick William Mingledorff, Sr. and his wife, Onetha Hallman Mingledorff. He is survived by his two children, William Julien Mingledorff and Carole (Bubba) Grinstead, his brother, Frederick William Mingledorff, Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at the Midway United Methodist Church on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 11 a.m.
All who knew Julien, knew of his love for animals. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Carpathia Paws, a non-profit which strives to eliminate pet homelessness, at 1618 Airport Road Hinesville, GA 31313.
