Lacy Driggers

November 22, 1925 — May 21, 2012

Lacy Warren Driggers, 86 passed away Monday, May 21, 2012 after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family at home. He was born November 22, 1925 to Warren Hawkins Driggers and Varnie Belle Watson, who both preceded him in death. Lacy proudly served his country during World War II and was a Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient. After returning to civilian life, he met and married the love of his life, Edith Eliza Stanfield. He later went into business with Jimmy Parker to form Broadleaf Timber, which he co-owned and operated until 1990. He then went into the mobile home business operating Lacy's Mobile Home Park until passing.
Lacy was an avid reader with a love of the outdoors. He was private by nature, but was often sought out for advice by those that knew him. Above all else he was the beloved patriarch of his large family and leaves a legacy of love, home, and family.
In addition, to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Leslie Lee Driggers; and two sisters, Gwendal Belle Driggers and Vonzie Belle Smiley.
He is survived by, his wife of 61 years, Edith Eliza Stanfield Driggers of Glennville, GA; children and their spouses: Dianne and Derek Miller of Vass, NC, Sharon and Kenny Watson, Pam Barnett, Michael and Shela Driggers all of Glennville, GA, and Denise Ethington of Mesa, AZ; grandchildren and their spouses: K'Tina Geiger, Chris and Jennifer Driggers, Adam and Sandy Jones, Jason and Heidi Driggers, Jessica Driggers, Amanda and Jason Smith, Matthew Jones, Dan and Amanda Driggers, Meghan and Neil Tew, Casey and Adam Rice, Morgan Ethington, and Jeremiah Barnett; great-grandchildren: Ethan Jones, Reagan Dean, Alake Driggers, Gabe Jones, Jocelyn Machado-Driggers, Alissa Driggers, Caden Driggers, Jonas Geiger, Katelin Smith, and Laura Driggers; special nephew: Wayne Blocker.
Visitation will begin Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 6:00 pm at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday, May 24, 2012 from the chapel of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home with Elder Kenny Watson and Elder Adam Rice officiating. Burial will follow in the Lacy and Edith Driggers Family Cemetery with military honors.
Pallbearers will be Grandsons: Chris Driggers, Adam Jones, Jason Driggers, Matthew Jones, Dan Driggers, and Jeremiah Barnett.
