Larry Dean Allen

Larry Dean Allen, 64, passed away on January 14, 2025, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia, Georgia. He was born on October 17, 1960, in McLeansboro, Illinois to Gene and Ernestine Sue Ray Allen.

Larry was a retired correctional officer from the Claxton Detention Center and went on to work for 14 years at Armstrong Cricket Farm.

Larry was a US Army Veteran and will be remembered fondly for his unwavering passion for his yard, often spending hours perfecting it. His love for nature extended beyond the garden; he cherished fishing, hunting, and working with his chickens—activities that brought him joy and fulfillment.

Above all, Larry took immense pride in his family. His sons and grandchildren were his proudest accomplishments, and he treasured every moment spent with them. 

Larry is preceded in death by his father, Gene Allen, mother, Sue Chapman, stepfather, Gene Chapman and twin brother, Terry Allen.

He is survived by:

Wife of 44 years, Tammy Allen of Glennville, Georgia

Sons, Kenneth Allen (Elizabeth) of Vidalia, Georgia
Aaron Allen of Glennville, Georgia

Brother, Jerry Allen of Columbus, Ohio

Grandchildren, Kaitlyn Allen, Olivia Allen, Bryson Allen, Ella Allen, Eben Glaser, Madison Glaser and Olivia Glaser

Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Brannen Family Funeral Services. A memorial service will follow at 6:30 PM at the chapel of Brannen Family Funeral Services.
